princeriley Amazon EC2 Users Meeting in Chicago June ? 2009 0 Apr 9 2009, 9:02 AM EDT by princeriley
Thread started: Apr 9 2009, 9:02 AM EDT  Watch
Greetings AWS Evangelists,

My firm, Witherspoon Marketing Group, Inc. wants to host an Amazon Evangelist meeting here in Chicago sometime in June of this year. We already know a few firms that are either using or who are in the process of designing service (SoS) applications using the EC2 platform. Our own efforts target verticals in automotive entertainment, retailing and advertising.

A tentative agenda has already been put together and the event would be held either on the University of Illinois (Chicago) campus of the Illinois Institute of Technology here in the city. We are hoping to touch base with someone at Amazon. In May, we will be making a presentation at the end of May (5/29/2009) on the topic of Sybase iAnywhere as part of the Amazon Cloud (EC2) and the EC2 Ubuntu distro. We want to use this first meeting to bring together as many local users and developers now working on the Amazon EC2 Cloud and have this meeting set the stage for the meeting in June.

This first meeting would also be an opportunity for Amazon's team to present the EC2 platform and to promote their cloud computing services architecture.

In a few weeks, I will post a link to a event web page that will provide further details and an agenda. Certainly open to further suggestions from the local area EC2 users and the Amazon team.

Looking forward to hearing from the Amazon EC2 team,

Prince Riley
Director, Development

Anonymous IBM WebSphere and EC2 0 Mar 26 2009, 8:09 PM EDT by Anonymous

Thread started: Mar 26 2009, 8:09 PM EDT  Watch
Hello AWS Evangelists,

My company, Isos Technology, hosts the IBM WebSphere Users Group (PHXWUG) here in Phoenix and we were hoping to touch base with someone at Amazon. Our next presentation at the end of April (4/29/2009) will cover using IBM middleware in the Amazon Cloud (EC2). I hoped to provide Amazon the opportunity to present in tandem and as a way to further promote cloud computing.

Presentation Brief:
Since 2006, Amazon has made their scalable, reliable and cost-effective cloud web services available to customers for running their IT infrastructure. Consequently, a number of companies have made their software available to use through the Amazon cloud including IBM. Learn about Amazon Web Services (AWS) and how you can take advantage of using their global computing infrastructure to run your IBM services. Don't get left behind--find out what all the buzz is about.

During this presentation you will learn about Amazon's Web Services featuring the Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (Amazon EC2). You will also find out what IBM software is available for use and see a demonstration of how to setup a WebSphere Portal instance using these services.
-----

If you know of anyone in your group who might be interested in this opportunity I would appreciate the chance to present the idea to them.

Thank you for your time,

Danny Riley
